I have experienced healing for my cat in a way that I understand to be this “something more.” I had recently been introduced to The Power of Spiritual Healing, a book by Joel Goldsmith. The premise is, as he states “the nature of human error is the universal belief that we are a selfhood apart from God.” He has made a difference for hundreds of people with end stage or terminal disease. When we live as this knowing that we are entirely Spiritual beings, then disease cannot exist.
It occurred to me to put my attention toward my cat. He had just become very sick. I noticed he lost all the muscle mass in his shoulders when he could no longer jump onto anything. I palpated a hard mass in his distended abdomen. It seemed these were the end stages of the disease, FIV that I diagnosed about a year ago, a disease considered to be terminal. My cat would not allow any treatment – he has never allowed me to treat him for anything. He has fought with me as hard as any cat I have ever treated, literally scratching at my eyes, fighting, screaming and biting. Daily treatments were out of the question and he refused all my efforts to feed him flavored meds in food that he liked.
I began using my meditation to contemplate or understand my cat as well, despite his symptoms. I practiced being or knowing of the I am as Source of perfection, Love, brilliance, pure and total light. In this state of being, disease, discord, pain and suffering don't exist. Over the next few weeks, he gradually regained all the muscle mass back in his front end. He had almost a complete healing, while not quite as strong to jump from the fence to the roof top, he at least could climb the stairs and jump onto the furniture. Eating and eliminating returned to normal and he continues to live well today, a year later.
I believe we are spiritual beings living in a material world. We really have no concept of the magnitude of this universal energy to which we all belong (some call God). I invite you to join me in this inquiry of what is possible for healing through realizing ourselves more as Spiritual beings of energy and less as of the material world in which we live.
